Cut open underbelly

Ok, went out and purchased black gorilla tape. Thought it would take the skin off of my fingers and hand at some point. Lots of cross pieces of tape used, and ended up running about 8" wide the length of the cut. So far, just sitting there in the yard, it has held up. Next trip will only be 10 miles down the road, but the last tape I used didn't hold up to that so we'll see if the gorilla tape does.
I did notice that in another area, the dealer had used a black tape that is about 4 or 5 inches wide, is very thin and appears to have a nylon mesh running inside of the tape. Is this the special tape someone spoke of?
