I hit a dresser on I-75 in Florida with the Cougar in tow. Was our maiden voyage with the trailer. Truck in front swerved at the last minute and there it was in front of us. Hit the brakes and ended up driving right through it. Didn't do any damage to the truck or trailer but sure gave everyone an OHSH!T moment lol.

Do agree with you as to staying in your lane though.

I bet the pickup driver just had his tires replaced. There are what appear to be several old tires in the bed of the truck. No broken studs on the axle that lost the wheel.

Lawsuit city.

INDIANAPOLIS – A woman was killed Monday morning after a pickup truck on I-465 lost a tire, which flew over the median and into her windshield.

Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine said the woman was pronounced dead hours later after being transported to Eskenazi hospital in extremely critical condition.

The incident happened around 10 a.m., near the I-74 exit of I-465. A tire came off a truck driving northbound, bounced over the median and hit the woman's vehicle at the roofline/windshield. Investigators said they aren’t sure what caused the tire to come loose.

The name of the woman was not released by police.

A couple years ago I was driving home from a fishing trip and I noticed a round hay bale in the ditch every so many miles. I called the sheriff department to report what was happening and about 10-15 miles from the time I made the phone call the sheriff had the 18 wheeler pulled over to address the problem. A round bale rolling down the highway into oncoming traffic could present a serious problem.

Things like this is why I commute in my G35 sedan. I had to do a two lane change at 80 MPH to avoid a bouncing sofa. In a truck it would have been scary, in the G it was almost a non-event.

The night of February 4, 1990, we left Jackson Hole, WY in a 1988 Honda Accord. There roads had been plowed with snow berms on each side of the highway. We were driving at a speed for the conditions when we came upon two moose (mamma and big baby) in the middle of the road headed to the left shoulder of the highway. Too close to slam on the brakes, Todd tried going around them on the right side but hit the snow berm and we slid into them. The mamma's butt came through the driver's side window, broke the windshield and bent the frame on that side of the car. We may have knocked the moose down but before we could stop the car completely, they were gone so hope we didn't hurt them too bad... We weren't too far from the bar in Bondurant so stopped there and the gentleman gave us enough visqueen and tape to cover the driver's window and we headed home.
$4500.00 damage to the Honda, Todds shirt was shredded and he had small cuts where the glass flew into him BUT we survived. If we had hit them head on with that car, I wouldn't be able to tell the story today. The Lord was definitely with us!

He was killed instantly. We never had a family reunion on Mom's side of the family. He had put together the reunion and we were all on our way to that. Instead we went to a funeral.

He was traveling on a rainy night came around a corner and hit the moose.

When I rode bikes I was way more frightened of animals than humans.

When in my youth, rallied both my 2 seaters almost every month (MGB and 240Z) and the fear running over the speed limit in the Calif Central Valley was cows laying in the middle of the road at night (they broke through the barbed wire fence) to keep warm on the asphalt and during the day, snakes laying on the pavement to keep warm (if a rattler, they bit the tires to both kill themselves and give you a flat)
