private buy your own vehicles and equip them the way you want!
I think the main point here is the vehicle is priced over NADA so the OP was trying to find some extra value to justify the purchase in a way that would gain him more $$ value than it would cost dealer.
If the dealer paid too much for the truck at auction, he may get stuck with it.
