slideout won't budge.

My slide-out isn't working. I get nothing when I hit the button even with electric power is going to the trailer.
I just got down to Florida from Pa., and we're in the Beverly Hills area, (citrus Springs) not too far from Ocala. Does anyone know of a good RV service center near here? I also checked all fuses and breakers and they are all fine.

  • For the slide to work you need a fully charged battery, good fuse between the slide switch and the battery and the slid room must not be hanging up on anything. I'd crank the slide out manually first to check to see it's not catching on anything and WILL move freely. If it cranks out easily, then check the fust (it wires directly to the battery and the fuse should be located in the positive line fairly close to the battery) and finally make sure your battery is correctly charged. IF you find it binding when cranking it by hand you'll need to find out where and why and correct that problem.
    Good luck / Skip

Had same problem once before. It was one of these. It was located up under the frame near a junction box where positive battery cable connects.

These fuses come in several amp ratings. The one for my slide out was 30 amp. They can be purchased at many autoparts stores, and most likely all RV dealers. Now, I carry a spare.
  • Not sure if they go to that area or not, but may recommend someone to you. Citrus RV 352-302-1742 Drew Melkonian/ A great guy and very reasonable!
  • How is your battery??

Had this problem at home while plugged in to shore power- my battery was to far gone- even plugged in- to move the slide. Using a battery charger it took me 2 hrs to get it in. Replaced the battery= problem solved.
  • Is your battery connected? Had this problem when mine was stolen from storage. Brought it home for a trip, plugged it in and the slideout did nt work until I got a new battery. I gues it completes the circuit.
  • We had the same problem. DH and a friend manually retracted the slide. Then for some reason the slide started working on again. Worth a try.
  • check to see if there any wire caps or the like, going in to the motor. Should be fairly close to the motor. Could be a wire is not making contact. Could be a bad motor. I would tell you to take a small hammer or cresent wrench and give the motor a good whack. However, if you did that and it works, it might never work again, then you would have to have a few guys to push the room in. Check the wires. You might have to remove the motor and test it. A DIYer can do this. If you are unsure, then yes do a quick search for RV dealers near Ocala and give them a call.

There's a Camping World in Ocala on 441. I heard they do good work but have not used them. We spend the winters in the Ocala area.
