Last Saturday my wife & I looked at a Wildwood Lodge 394FKDS destination trailer. We have a seasonal site and if we bought it, dealer will deliver and park it on our site. My question is: If for some reason we decide to leave this campground what would we use to tow this trailer? It has an empty tongue weight of 1555 lbs. and dry shipping weight of 10075 lbs. My thought is that with that much tongue weight I'd probably need one of those short wheelbase trucks that they use to move mobile homes (house trailers). Any thoughts?

Every CG and more so if there are seasonal trailers there, all have a 'mover guy' on call to move trailers in and out.IMHO I would just use them instead of purchasing a new vehicle for the if come that you have to move it.

USHIP, get the middle bidder who is not a broker and has over 10 shipments, all positive. Give them a date and time, if they don't show, you can give a rating through USHIP. I hauled through them and just don't anymore due to people cutting freight rates for no reason, just to cut throats. Don't need it. A 1 tom Dually will tow it.

Get a pro that has been doing it. Just enjoy your unit and worry about it when the time comes.

Private RV sites or lots either purchased or leased are a huge part of RVing now. It would be nice to see that rolled into the same forum. Landscape ideas, additions, special hookups etc. We are full timers but own a northern RV site and a southern RV site that we use as home bases when not on the road wandering. I suspect many do this and its getting more popular every day. Lots of info to share among the owners out there.

Well 12% of 10,000lbs would be 1200lbs. well within the capabilities of any 3/4 ton and up truck. you would need to load about 300lbs of stuff in the rear to arrive at that tongue weight so it`s doable by anyone with the proper TV.

My wife & I used our new trailer Jul. 3 - Jul. 21. We love it!! There is a lot more room in it than what we had in our 2003 Cedar Creek 36RLBS unit. I told my wife that we could hold a dance party in our new trailer. LOL I think the moderators should start a new catagory for DESTINATION TRAILERS. OK I'll start a survey. How many of you own a "destination trailer"? If there is enough owners maybe the moderators wiil have a destination trailer catagory.

My dealer(actually the owner) delivered my 2014 Wildwood Lodge 394FKDS destination trailer to my seasonal site this morning. He used a Chevy 3500 dually Duramax diesel. He didn't use any type of weight distribution bars. He just had the trailer hooked to hitch ball. The truck did have the HEAVY DUTY receiver and stinger (2 1/2"). His truck WAS squatting with all that tongue weight (1555 lbs per brochure). It's about an hour's drive from the dealership to my seasonal site.
