It took us over five years of attending RV shows and looking at Class A models to find one that was "it".
Then we got scared.
Buying a big diesel pusher Class A would mean changing our camping style. Making reservations, staying in more RV parks and becoming a bus driver.
The Class A was a wonderful machine though.
In our truck camper last week, wind speed gusts hit 70 mph while camping on Antelope Island, Utah with constant wind speed between 40 and 50 mph.
The slide topper could have ripped off. The camper rocked like a boat. Strange vibration noise came from the roof. Wife was terrified. We pulled the slide in.
With the slide in, we could not open the fridge, use the bath, or get to the cabover. We were limited to sitting in the dinette.
As truck campers, we are not fair-weather park resident type people.
We need access and use of the camper in ALL types of weather.
If I wanted something else, I would have bought that bus.
Next camper will not have a slide that blocks the interior.
