diesel cost !

Bought fuel Sunday in So. Carolina for $2.09 . Today in New York State at Flying J it was @2.99 . I bought at Hess for $2.49 . Big diff.
  • Don't buy diesel along major highways where semi trucks frequent unless you don't mind to paying more. The price is usually inflated considerably because the fuel stations know that truck drivers do not want to drive away from the highways to look for cheaper fuel especially when it is the company they drive for that is paying for it. Try and find a fuel station that sells diesel a few miles away from the highway which should be very easy with a smart phone. You should see a huge difference in price. Although gas is usually cheaper at these station because they are trying to compete the gaser vehicles business.
  • $2.67 gallon here in NorCal. Gas is still running about $3.50/gal here so diesel looks cheap.
  • I am seeing absurd prices on diesel around me. My local station has gas for $2.49 and diesel for $2.53. On the way home from work today I saw diesel for $2.4X and gas was $2.6X. Other places are asking $2.60-$2.90 for diesel. I'm blown away that there is such discrepancy in pricing right now.
  • What is the fuel tax in NY vs SC? People complain about CA but they have a $0.43/gal diesel fuel tax. I think it's $0.37/gal in FL and $0.40 in GA. I see NY has a $0.46/tax and SC $0.18/gal. OK is actually the lowest at $0.17.

OF course in FL they actually spend the money to maintain the roads unlike CA.
