- hone_eagleExplorerWe'll see ,as it is from my home town and the distance a rumour has to travel I'll hear it first and let the group know :-).
Truth is it is tied to the V8 5.4 mod family and unlikely to survive the winding down of the V8 mod family, but no guarantee, stranger things are possible.
I have worked in Ford plants that are left to sit idle until needed , for short runs like 1or 2 days a week once a month ,but if the facility is needed for a new project - thats all she wrote. - RobertRyanExplorer

Well seeing the V10 has 3yrs to go
A few people here think the V10 will last as long as the Econoline Cab Chassis till 2020. - hone_eagleExplorer

I agree 100% I think Nissan is going to jump into the HD market in late 2015.
Seeing the blurb attached to the new engine by Cummins, they hope it will be a replacement for the V10 in Ford based Motorhomes.
Well seeing as how the V10 is on its last leg (3 years or less to go) and cummins already sells every engine they make(well except the real biggies) into the motorhome market thats a easy one - RobertRyanExplorer

Don't be so sureThe ISV5.0 has been designed to easily fit where a comparable V8 or V10 gasoline engine was previously used. The ISV5.0 brings together a compacted graphite iron (CGI) cylinder block, forged steel crankshaft, high-strength aluminum alloy heads and composite valve covers to offer maximum durability in a lightweight package. These features, along with dual overhead camshafts, also reduce noise, vibration and harshness.
- ksssExplorerThe more power you give it the heavier the drivetrain and the more fuel it will drink. The "more is better" diesel power philosophy in the HD trucks works, but it wont in this segment. FE will drive the market for these half ton diesels.
- kw_00ExplorerYep hoping GM will bring back the idea of the baby 4.5 Duramax, it may be a good seller in the 1/2 ton line pickup. Regardless in a few years a lot will be changing in the market place due to ever tightening regulations. Either smaller diesels or turbocharged gas (ecoboost) may become more frequent...
- MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerRumer has it the 4.5 duramax will be going into the new GM suvs. That motor has been on hold since bankruptcy and will fit in the new Utes. That 4.5 duramax made in ohio has a whole plant ready for action !!
