diesel fuel question

I ran B99 in my diesel-powered 2008 Grand Cherokee in the summer and varying biodiesel blends the rest of the year down to B0 when temps were far below freezing with no fuel-related issues.

The manual for my 2014 ecodiesel says B20 is approved although more frequent oil changes are recommended.

In Oregon, I think B-5 is mandated state-wide. I used to be just inside Portland and now it's either B-2 or B-5 from border to border.

And, the EXACT same thing has been happening for DECADES with 100% Diesel, before bio even existed. Have you stopped using 100% diesel too?

I am not sure. Corporations only care about maximizing profits. So I guess they would not get as much profit if they sold it?

The Flying J's and Pilot etc...etc... don't have the engineering staff like the big oil companies. IMO the big oil companies have stayed away from bio diesel because of potential liabilities that occur from bad bio. In addition the big oil companies have their own additives division so perhaps their more comfortable with adding the in house designed additives to diesel rather than a bio additive.

that's why I have a rolling chem lab in the bed of my truck. I extract a sample from the pump test the WIF content, biodiesel and cetane value. this test typically takes about 30 minutes to complete but if it doesn't meet my rigid standards I move to the next station. Yeah it takes me the better part of the day to fill up but at least I know I'm getting top quality fuel.

BUT!

many places just mark their pumps "Diesel". And even if you ask inside, I have found employees that haven't a clue exactly what diesel they are selling.

Sometimes it is a roll of the dice.

And hope really hard you don't get a bad batch of bio-diesel somewhere (see previous posters algae story).

Well, I've heard stories of people running their diesel trucks on reclaimed French Fry cooking oil and reclaimed deep fried chicken cooking oil. I've heard it said, if it burns, it will run a diesel engine. I've never tried it, I'm just saying "I heard it."
