I recently purchased a RAM 3500 DRW with a 3.73 rear and ASIAN transmission. I am not using any fuel additive at this time. I only get about 14-15 MPG not towing at 65 on level ground and about 7-8 MPG towing a Montana fifth wheel on level. Is this all I can expect? my older 5.9 with 4RE transmission got 21 not towing and 11 towing on level at 65.
I would like to know what MPG others are getting and with what vehicle and what fuel additives they are using with new diesels.
Fuel additives will not help mileage. If this is a 13 or later, it might get better with time. Set it on the fuel economy setting on the EVIC and it will show real time fuel loading. Not exactly accurate, but helps teach you how to drive for better mileage. I have a 13 2500 4x4 with the 3.42 and get 20-22 MPG on the road if I drive the speed limit. Average 16-17 around combined city/ highway. Towing my fifth wheel at 8000 lbs, about 14MPG. Love my truck.
BTW, the transmission is not an ASIAN transmission. It is an AISIN, made by AISIN SEIKI.
