Well, your examples are from the PAST, before diesel trucks became a very different animal with a very different price premium. The OP is wondering what to do in the PRESENT.
I love my 2000 F350 7.3 diesel, too. But if had to start all over, not sure what I would do, ESPECIALLY since I like to vacation in Mexico where ULSD is still not available except along the border states.
