Not at all. There are pros and cons to both. Pulling a 5th wheel, or travel trailer plays to the strengths of the diesel. Carrying cargo plays to the strength of the gas engine. Of all of the forms of RV's the diesel is probably least favored for truck campers because of the weight penalty of the diesel and because with the relatively light weight of the combined "package" the gas engines have more than enough power.
That doesn't mean diesels are bad. If you want one, get one. If you plan on having a light TC and towing 20,000 lbs then again you are again playing to the strength of the diesel and that would be the way to go.
