What are some guesstimates or examples for the top weight of gassers pulling say something like a TT toy hauler or even a FW? Diesel is great but as mentioned they do cost more to maintain but there is also a fear factor. If it's goes bad it's really expensive.
It all depends on how high you'll go and what you're comfortable with. For the 6.4L I would say that the average person would be satisfied if staying under 12k. Once you cross into the 13k - 15k range, a diesel would work better, but a gas can work. It will work fine as long as you don't have really high expectations. It's not a modern diesel after all.
It'll be working for sure, but it will get the job done. You'll be able to get up to speed and get up them hills just fine. You just won't be the first to the top though. But then again, not everyone is in a race. Guys and gals have been happily chugging along in their 5.9L's and 7.3L's diesels for decades really.
