Exactly what I was going to say.
With a drw truck and a 14000lb class weight limit, you'll notice the weight of the diesel comes off the available payload, yet the rear axle load limit on the diesel is the same, same springs too.
It's all about getting the numbers to add up to the class limit gvw, 14k. Funny, all mfgs have the exact same gvw. That's because it's a govt mandated number not the actual capability of a particular Vehicle. Think of it as a guideline that mfg have to design to "no less than."
