Vinsil, thanks. I have had my '96 Dodge 12-valve since 2001, and put over 175000 miles on it. I have personally highly modified the fuel system, and never had any of the issues discussed. I do my own repairs, which have been few on the '96. I guess it is not a modern diesel. I recently acquired a '04 Dodge dsl with about 100000 miles. I know the previous owner, and they did very little maintenance and never had any issues with it.
I don't think I would be interested in any of the diesels from about 2010 and newer, Dodge, Ford or GM.
