diesel warm up question

I have a question, after doing some reading in the manual and online. How long should you let the engine warm before pulling the camper? This is my first diesel. Its a 5.9 cummins. I have been told wait until the temp is above 140.Would like to hear from you guys who actually tow. Thanks in advance.

Crank it up, walk around the rig to make sure everything is ready to go and then go. If at home and it's flat out to the main road with out the rig attached, crank it up and go. By the time you get to the main road, gas it.
In the winter in Arkansas I'd add 30 seconds to the above.
  • In the summer I start the engine back under FW, raise landing gear and go. I doesn't take long to warm up when it's 90° out. In the winter, if its at or below freezing, I'll drive around the block or the campground to help get engine warmed up. The wife doesn't like sitting in a cold truck.
