My number one absolute must have in a truck camper was a model that was designed with the kitchen and seating area that directly oppose each other.
I will never understand why a truck camper would be built with the dinette or couch directly opposite the full wall of the bathroom and fridge.
The design team at Lance obviously has a hard time with this. The one non slide model that they make not only has a fake crappy dinette, but it leaves you staring at a wall. I fail to see how it matters whether you have the couch or not. The so called u shaped dinette is anything but u shaped. Its just a crappy bench that faces the wall.
The camper we bought has a full booth face to face dinette that is directly opposite the kitchen. Not only can we both sit comfortably at the dinette, we can both actually see out both sides of the camper through the wonderful windows. We can also collapse the table and stretch out side by side and watch the TV that is in the overcab.
I don't know about the rest of the folks here, but for us camping almost always includes inclement weather. I would put the number of camping trips that we have had over the years without some sort of crappy weather at maybe 25 percent. If it rains, we want to be comfortable in the camper. Simple.
Otherwise, we will be outside which is why we camp anyways.
