Dinette slide out works only sometimes?
Hello,
After days of internet searches turning up dead-ends in my pursuit to fix my travel trailer slide out issue, I've decided to joing RV.net and make my first post!
I have a 2004 R-Vision Trail Bay 31ft travel trailer with one slide-out. I bought this trailer from Camping World in Waukonda IL, about 4 weeks ago.
During the demo of my new/used trailer, the slide-out worked perfectly, bought the trailer, towed it home. Now I seem to have periodic issues with the slide-out, here's some details:
-With trailer running on my NEW battery, slide out may work, or may not, some days it'll slide out, some days it won't. Some days it'll slide 'mostly' out then stop, then won't work for days.
-With trailer plugged into shore power(only 15A service running from garage), I get the same issues as if it were on battery.
-All other electrical components work with no issue on the trailer.
-Battery check with voltmeter is normal, 12V. Battery check with meter inside trailer shows battery Full. Battery has water.
-A/C, etc all work fine on shore power(albeit on 15A service too!)
-Manual cranking of slide-out works fine as a workaround.
-Upon looking underneath trailer at the motor used to crank out slide-out, it shows the following label: "THOMSON SAGINAW: Performance Pak" I have photos of this unit if needed.
I have hopes of repairing this myself, for I've had nothing but nightmares thus far dealing with Camping Worlds Service Center. I have all necessary mechanics tools and abilities, so any suggestions or thoughts as to what I can troubleshoot or repair are welcome and encourages! I'm at a loss!
I read somewhere online that there may be some sort of 'relay' about 2 feet back under trailer from my battery? I do see something that looks like a standard metal junction box attached to the trailer frame about that far back, but, I'm not certain if this is the issue, therefore did not take the cover off to investigate. I do see some corrosion on wire/bolt connections outside of this junction box. Not sure if this info helps, but trying to give as much info as possible.
Thanks in advance!
