Dinette to Couch Conversion

I currently have a 25ft Amerilite TT (no slideout). We currently have just a dinette and bed as our interior seating. I was wanting to take out the dinette and convert it to a couch. Has anyone done this, or seen it done?

I have a fuse panel and wheel well under the current dinette. we don't need the space as a bed.

is it a u shaped or 2 bench not u shaped? friend of ours with a smaller class a had a large size u shaped dinette . they took out the table and basically ended up with a u shaped couch across from the tv. they eat on tv trays anyway she said. really opened up the floor plan. i have seen several conversions on pinterest.
  • I've seen a few posts of folks that bought 2 recliners and removed (unbolted/ disassembled) dinettes....

Post up some pictures when you get them :)

I would think your best option is to purchase a jack knife sofa designed for use in an RV, such as the one we have in our own Coachmen Freedom Express that is mounted above the wheel well.

Ours sits in a shallow 18" slide so we do have more open floor space in front of the sofa that you would in a non-slide trailer but it's nonetheless still quite usable when the slide is in the travel position. Depending on what is opposite this location in your trailer you may have sufficient room as well for a sofa. The bigger question is whether you have enough length to accommodate one of these sofas. Ours is 65" long but I know friends of ours with a Starcraft Launch 21FBS with the same floor plan do have a somewhat longer sofa.
  • 1. make sure that your dinette is not part of the rv structure and there is no furnace or anything else that would need to remain there.
    2. Whatever you choose to replace it with (building your own sofa or buying an rv sofa) make sure you are able to secure it to the floor .

There are a few 'youtubes' on the subject, i would suggest viewing them.
