Extra large dinette vs. separate dinette and couch

I personally do not like a dinette at all I do like a couch with a table in front of it but this is just my preference.

Having a really large couch to sit on sounds really good until you actually sit on it for a while. Not very comfortable. (I assume you are talking about the really long sofa with two removable tables)

Yes. I guess it would be considered a large, long couch with two tables.
Do you currently have,or have you had one of these layouts? What is uncomfortable about them?
I honestly don't know as I've only looked at the more conventional separate sofa/dinette models.

I've never sat in a long couch but have sat in many booth dinettes and have yet to find one (except for the Lance) that doesn't sink to the bottom after 20-30 mins. I prefer a free standing dinette and couch. I'm guessing the long couch would be more comfortable than any dinette.

That's very similar to the style I'm looking at. I don't really see many downsides to this layout. I am wondering exactly how it converts to a bed since the tables are two separate entities. With a wide expanse like that, I could see the need for some extra, non-factory support underneath. But - that's if I EVER had to use it for a bed. One of the main reasons I'm looking for a new trailer and a larger bunkhouse model is to avoid breaking down the sofa and/or dinette when a cousin or friend accompanies my kids.

Thanks for the input everyone. I will add this to my evr-growing list of considerations. Seems like I've ruled as many things in as I've ruled out... isn't making my decision any easier :)

There are a few brands offering that style of extra large lounge/dinette. They all have sofas that convert to beds, but I have never seen or heard of anyone using the bed. Usually only one part in the middle turns into a bed.

That pic above is from a Cruiser RV Enterra 312. Be careful of that relatively new floorplan with island kitchen. They tend to restrict access to pantry, fridge, bathroom, etc with the slides in. This Enterra seems like one of the better ones over the Kodiak 300 for example.

Cruiser is starting to offer this "Mega Lounge" on Shadow Cruiser, Radiance, and Enterra lines. Open Range ha it on the Light line. Forest River Surveyor 305 has it. It seems like a good idea to me for larger families. I do not think the dual tables are very big and I'd have to bring some folding chairs to have people it across from each other for games, conversation, etc.

I also prefer the couch over the dinette. Dinettes are hard to get into and out of and forget it if you want to sit and relax. The may only be good for a card game. We went with the couch which can fold out and has an inflatable air mattress. It also when the slide out is closed will still allow access to all ares of the trailer. Card tables work as eating places when needed and store easily.

Let me ask something for clarification. Terminology-wise, this is considered a dinette, correct? When people say they prefer the couch to the dinette, they are saying they prefer the separate couch to the extra large dinette (like the pictures in this thread) that kind of serves as a couch?

Just want to make sure I understand what people consider a couch and what they consider a dinette?
