We bought the roof coil from a local tractor trailer supply company. They had a giant roll of it and sold it by the linear foot, 100 inches wide. IIRC it was pretty cheap, about $13 a linear foot. I am guessing most tractor trailer repair/supply companies would have similar material.
We did initially think about the EPDM rubber roof, and even bought a gallon of it. We later were told it is not suitable as a primary covering but rather a coating to go over an existing rubber roof for patching or repair of pinholes. Perhaps they have a new product now though.
Alright, I guess I'm just stumped on what exactly to ask for. "Aluminmum roofing"? and find the one that's somewhere near 0.40 thickness?
So, I'll show the type of truck I want to build on... not this one specifically, but something this approximate size, just so you can get an idea of what I'm going for...

As you can see the height of the bed is pretty far off the ground. I'm thinking I'd like the door on the drivers side towards the front, and then have something like this (though I'd love to find one that's easily removable, but not a big deal)

Another thing I noticed... in the craigslist ad he mentions its "registered at 11k" if he's referring to the gvwr that's going to be a problem... i believe above 10k i would have to go to scales. i guess that means no 3500 dually then... might have to be a 2500 dually then. we'll, if this whole seems feasible and I save up to buy a truck and get this thing rolling I will look up the exact truck prior to purchase to make sure I'm OK for weight.
