I think he would have got much better accuracy using a pressure gauge with a smaller range. Measuring 210 psi on a 3000 psi gauge reduces the precision quite a bit. I would have been more impressed had he used a 500 psi gauge, but perhaps he needs to weigh some much heavier trailer tongues. And perhaps, judging that his tongue weight is somewhere around 300 lbs. is all the accuracy he felt he needed.
His statement that 327# was about 10% of the 3,500# trailer weight concerned me a bit. My understanding is that 10% is a kind of minimum weight and 12% would be better. His tongue weight is closer to 9%. I must admit this is a clever technique, but I would tweak it a bit if I were going to use it.
