Ditto to the other posts, no, newer diesels won't smell bad. Also, the price difference between a 3/4 and one ton diesel is minimal but the advantages are big. I was talked into getting a one ton for our 5th wheel then later decided I wanted to add a truck camper for when I want to take my boat out. So now I can load up either one we decide to take.
