We hang grape cluster lights off our awning arms. Looks very pretty at night. I just wrap them around the arms. Not an elegant way to hang them, but the arms are too high off the ground to reach without a stepladder. Lots of folks hand lights off their awnings where we camp. Doesn't bother anyone.
We also have a factory installed LED strip in the awning roller. That is pretty bright though but at least there is no glare when you look at our TT from a distance.
