When I am by myself I do not lower the jacks but the DW insists on them being lowered when she is on board. I level the truck using the lego blocks which I find to be very easy to drive up onto when in 4x4 low range. Then only slight leveling is needed with the jacks so I never need to disengage my fastguns.
