This is one of those rare topics where everyone can be right and everyone's talking s!!* :)
We don't really use ours for the serious stuff. I don't mind the campground toilets...but I have lived in Asia with squat toilets and in African Villages with wooden boxes over deep dark holes in the ground. So not much phases me. In addition the walk is good for us and it gets us out of the trailer and around the park a bit.
But what I do with my tank is this: I leave it closed even though I can connect to a dump at my campsite. I Let it fill and then empty it. This keeps the bad stuff from building up and hardening and helps flush the tank more. I have no problem with smell in the trailer and I dont use a chemical (but then again we rarely do anything serious in the TT) I find the smell of the chemicals to be more off-putting than almost anything else.
