My 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 is showing rust-through on the rear fenders above the wheels. I'm pretty disappointed, especially considering my previous truck was >10 years old before the paint even bubbled over the wheels.Anyway on another forum I mentioned my disappointment and was told that I should have been pulling the taillight housings and flushing out the space between the inner and outer fenders with water once a month.Has anyone here heard of such a thing? Has anyone here done such a thing?

Sounds like either they build a crappy truck or want you to pay for a bogus service. Or someone on a forum is playing you. Things up north rust out real quick with salt use but that is rediculous.

My 2007 NBS is currently in the body shop to have the box sides replaced because of the wheel well rot. The owner brought up this very subject. It is very easy to do so I will try to make it a habit once I get the truck back.

Back in the mid-'60s a old body man pointed out how the manufactures shaped the insides of panels to hold dirt, cause rust. Add salt, thinner steel, rust helps sell cars.BTW, I have never pulled the taillights, but for years brother and I would load 1 of our winter drivers on trailer, meet at car wash. Wives bring their cars, we put trailer on ramps in bay use the extra height to wash bottom of vehicle, unload/reload/repeat.

I looked at all three and ruled out the GM's because of this known issue and the RAM's because of the cam issues.
