I can think of a whole bunch of reasons that I never unload the camper when traveling.
The fit of the camper in the truck is really tight and reloading the camper is a pain.
I use the wheel well areas for storage: paper towels, tools, extra shoes and boots, dirty laundry, etc, etc.
I have foam blocks to fill the gaps between the camper and the sides of the truck cargo area. That keeps out the critters and keeps dust and dirt out of the wheel well storage.
One of the big positives about having a truck camper is always having your home with you. I like having the bed for an afternoon nap. I like having my own rest room and not being forced to use nasty public toilets. Cooking a meal and having an afternoon cup of coffee are also favorites of mine.
Finally I often change plans and do not return to the campground where I spent the previous night.
I can only think of one case where it would be nice to unload the camper. That would be four wheeling on primitive roads. My truck is a quad cab with an 8 foot bed so it is long and with a CTD it is 8500# empty. My truck is not going to turn itself into a four wheeling vehicle.
