I very seldom use mine, but I do like the fact it will open. It's too small to climb through. Beings as I also have big dogs, and there is not a lot of room in the camper, at night they sleep in the back seat of the truck and I can reach through to give them a little love, etc. and wake them up for morning constitution. It's much more comfortable for them than trying to squeeze on the floor and stepping over them during the night. They are with me during the day. I don't leave it open though, as there is no screen and the bugs get in. I also use it, as noted, to see through the camper while driving/backing.
