Do you use your sliding window at the front of your camper?

Do you use your sliding window at the front of your camper? If yes, what for? Mine was only slid when we were tinting it. Otherwise, it's always been closed. BTW, my truck has an electric sliding rear window. I use that to push hot air out of the cab sometimes.
  • We use ours quite a bit for ventilation- but never have as a 'pass thru'. Have one of those pop spring steel screens we'll put in front of it. On or off truck seems to flow more, air, especially if still and hot, than any of the side windows. Good place to set a small fan or if roof vent pulling as air thru it alwasy seems cooler?
  • Yes, for ventilation when off the truck and for viewing behind the camper while driving.
  • Echoing a previous reply: never use it, and on our next TC we will not have it installed. Instead of the window we will use the "wall space" for some type of storage, most likely a book shelf.

    Cheers, Henrik
  • back in the day when I had my first TC a 1976 9 1/2'Beaver on a 1974 2500 I had a custom made leather pass through made from the truck to the TC. My son and wife could climb through to access the TC. Back then I was working and vacation time was sparse so I would send the wife back there to make lunch while we were travelling plus it gave access to the bathroom without stopping (I only stopped for gas). Now don't go flaming me for allowing them to be back there while driving but back then it wasn't illegal and we had no idea of the dangers. We put over 80,000 miles on that TC over 26 years. No one got hurt (lucky?) :E :D
  • Have used it a few times for ventilation when camping with the TC off the truck. Nothing else.

No, I replaced it with a solid insulated window.

    No regrets, love it.

PS I always feel like it's more secure.
  • Open it for cross ventilation when off truck and reach through storage in the back seat when on. Also gives the cat more roaming space and the litter box is up front too, not taking valuable TC floor space. It is open all the time when on truck.
  • I occasionally used the front slider, only to have it open to draw air in when I have a vent fan running.

Last year I replaced the slider with a solid window, because it leaked when driving in the rain.
  • No. And when I order another TC it will not have one. It's the only window in the camper that isn't insulated.
