Camper window for aft of cab leaks

After 8 years, my pass thru window started leaking last year. I took it apart and cleaned the track which helped but still didn't stop it. Debating on if I should just replace the entire window or attempt to replace the gaskets. I won't remove the window or tape it shut, because I use it every night unless the AC is running. It is my lower vent point and that combined with cracking an upper vent prevents any condensation at night or when I cook.

Mine leaked like that and I tried several ways to stop it and still have a functional sliding window. Nothing worked, so I bought a piece of clear plexiglass and cut it the same size as the frame around the sliding section. Stuck it to the frame with some 3M double sided foam tape.

No mo leaks.

Think that is going to be my solution. Hard to believe a brand new perfectly good window is not air/water tight.

Mine did same thing, leaked when travelling in rain. Northwoods replaced mine with a 1 piece at the dealer. Dealer said it was a known problem, especially when mounted to a new Chevy! Yep hard to believe.

Wonder if egress is through weep holes.

Hmm. My Northern Lite came with a solid window there that doesn’t open. I wondered why... I bet that’s it.

That would also be an advantage to the top hinge windows if they don't have weep holes like the half sliding units.

That window leaked on the Bigfoot. When we know there is rain in the forecast, we close the roof vents, and that reduces any water and dust infiltration( Doesn't stop it). The other thing I did was to put a strip of Gorilla tape on the joint between the slider and the fixed window. The window doesn't slide open, but less water gets in. I think the brush like seal may be wearing out or is dirty and not sealing properly. Something I will have to look at once we get rid of all the white stuff and the temperatures are better for working on the camper outside, because having that window for a vent would be nice.

I had the leak issue also a few years ago. I noticed that some TCs had a small gutter just above the window. The physics of it made perfect sense.

I bought a joint of white vinyl siding "J" channel, cut it to length, enough to drain the water outside the bed area on either side, and cut off the portion with nailing holes, just enough to make a straight edge.

I mounted it just above the window using the thick clear 3M mounting tape and then sealed the edges with Dicor caulk. No screws. It won't blow off if you clean it before mounting and let the caulk cure for a day or so.

It channels the water forced between the cab and cabover to either side.

No wet cabover step now for about 5 or 6 years.

We have an older NL with the sliding window that we use all the time, especially when it's raining. It has never leaked nor did the one in the previous NL that we owned.
