Moog parts are what I went with. If you see the cut away of the factory ball joints...they use a plastic liner. Have a good alignment shop show you...they usually have some examples. This really sucks bad especially if you have the heavier Cummins motor in the front. Moog uses an all metal design...a special type of material and design that will last much, much longer than stock. I did an entire rebuild,(everything brand new from Moog), for just over 500 bucks. This job is not for the faint of heart. Getting the bearings out of the steering knuckles and ball joints out of the front end is a nightmare come true. You have to remove the axle shafts too and a piece of advice here... you just might as well tear out the spider gear and replace the axle seals while your at it. The seals run about 20 bucks a piece. Cheap yes, but when you get it all put back together and you didn't do fresh seals and it starts to leak, you will wish you did because now you have to tear it all back apart again. Getting the seals out is another pain in the A$$ but it is well worth doing it all at once...trust me this advice is from experience my friends. Do it all the first time..you will be glad you did! Oh and by the way...I have a 02 Dodge dually with a Cummins...completely worn out front at 70k miles. Seems crazy but Dodge really missed the boat here on this one. Don't even get me started on what can go wrong with a Cummins and after market oil filters...another post entirely. Good luck out there..be safe, and happy campin!
