I thought Ram also used Unobtainium :B in the exhaust that absorbed Nox.
Ha Ha.
The 2007.5-2012 trucks used a very aggressive EGR strategy to meet NOx requirements. This is why they were able to meet the 2010 emissions requirements in 2007 while the others didn't and needed SCR/DEF to meet the 2010 emissions. This is the main reason why the 2007-2010 Cummins had the major issues that it did because it was using the EGR system more than the PS 6.4L and the LMM 6.6L Duramax that only met the 2007 requirement and needed to be changed to meet the 2010. If Cummins would have tuned the 2007-2010 trucks to meet 2007 requirements then they would not have any more issues than the others did. In 2011 when Ford and GM went with an SCR/DEF to meet the NOx requirement, Ram still continued to use an EGR only approach which I think was a big mistake. Luckily that mistake was fixed in 2013.
