(See truck in my sig)...I'd say go with the 3:73 if towing in the mountains...

I always went for the middle answer also in college. Worked pretty well for me some 40 years ago :W
But I digress I suppose as you actually own one. Did I mention I'm jealous? :)
Dang, we must be close to the same age, though I started as a freshman in college fall of 68':)
Again, if I'd "known" I could have ordered a 3:73 with the Ram, I would have...I was ignorant of that fact and back in Dec. of 12', when I ordered the truck, there weren't a lot of facts out there...So I went by the fact that the 2010 and the 2012 both got max GCWR with a 4:10, and again, I do a lot of towing in the mountains....a couple of secondary roads are very mountainous and curvy, you have to slow to almost a stop to make some curves going up the mountain, then build back up to speed in a short straight stretch, then slow down again....with the Aisin and 4:10 along with extra HP & TQ, I've been most impressed with this truck.
I left my 5er in Sevierville TN to get some new springs put on it and 3 new topper's for 3 of my 4 slide outs (at almost 8 yrs old, figure I'd do some of this while I can still afford it:)). Coming back I got 17 mpg (hand calc), that was running 58-72 mph, depending on the speed limit...NEVER got that with any dually I've owned..
yeah, Rick belive you did mention you were jealous, but figure you'll remedy that before much longer:B
