*** Update ***
I've been looking online and found a couple of really good deals on some 2013s. The big advantage to that is that Dodge is offering 0% over 72 months.
That being said, I've found 2 that I like but they both have the 68RFE tranny with 3.73 gears. I know several mentioned they'd rather have 3.73s, but with the Aisin tranny. Do youse guys think the 68RFE and 3.73s would serve me well long-term with my rig setup? I know I'll be within the limits of the truck, but just towards the upper end.
Thanks!
Returned your PM to me...You will be WELL within the trucks limits...My 5er is heavier than yours, it's loaded passed your 5er's GVW rating...so really, no problems whatsoever there. I gave my weights in a couple of post as well as truck weights on that forum, and I'm not only 2,750# under my trucks RAWR, I'm also 1,360# under my trucks GVWR with this 5er.
I towed this same 5er with the 2010 and 2012 Ram dually's I had, both had the 68RFE and though I only had the 12' for about 6 months, I had zero issues, but the 2010, I had for 2.5 years and towed all through the mountains and never had the first issue..it ran great for me. BUT, I have to admit, I don't keep a truck long, (until this one, thus the reason, figuring I won't buy another one, is the reason I went with the Aisin).
It's your money and your choice...personally, I don't see anything wrong with the 68RFE. IF that's going to be your best deal, for the money...it may be the route you want to go. I know the Aisin now, in a 14', or being ordered on a 15' (when they can be ordered), word has the Aisin is going up in price..so 13' may be "best deal" on the Aisin...
Again, availability and price and best deal and what one can afford should trump what one wants...if you can't find one with the aisin out there in your price range, I STILL don't think there is anything wrong with the 68RFE, but again, longest I owned one was 2.5 years plus 6 months I had the 12.....
Let us know what you do if you don't mind.
