This is a known problem and they were replacing models in certain serial numbers. That program has "OFFICIALLY" ended but the problem still happens. I replaced mine through Dometic about a year ago. They offered me to either get the replacement or upgrade to the 310 with soft close lid for $75. I got the upgrade. Some people are reporting that Dometic has stopped offering but others have gotten the replacement or upgrade, Talk to customer service and be courteous and you maybe one of the ones to be offered the replacement or upgrade. You will need the serial number.
