Sorry Larry, I didn't keep any of my weights just for you. You do know that weights increase when you put more stuff in it, right? Such as when packed for a 3 week trip to Florida...

Something I really appreciate too is the strength of the frame of a vehicle. I have had several trucks that had failures that were the result of too thin a frame and too much flexing and fatigue. Only the Toyota trucks and 4WD utility vehicles have consistently had strong frames.

Appears to be strong brand bias for and against certain brands which IMO may wrongly influence those who believe evrything they read on the internet.
I just don't recall reading on here for over 10 years of consumer frame failures, and you have had several?
Lots of RV frame issues, but trucks???

In all my years around dealership, don,t recall any "Joe Average" user frame issues. Were some for sure in commercial applications but in every case was obvious why.. :S

Sometimes a certain combination just does not work. That does not make the original rating incorrect. Were you under ALL the mfgs ratings? But back to one of your other statements, you felt the handling could be unstable without the tt. It sounds like this truck just was not going to like pulling a heavier trailer no matter what.

Good information for sure. The short wheelbase will definitely affect handling. That is important for people to know as well. Again it is the entire combo that contributes to the stability not just whether the truck is a 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton truck. As some have correctly stated on here there are many variables not just the class of vehicle.

I tow a 32 ft 7800 lb gross weight trailer with a 1/2 ton Tundra and did so with a 1/2 ton GM before that. Solid as a rock, no sway, no bouncing. I have towed to Florida and all the way to the west coast and never an issue. Panic stops once or twice and still solid.

As others have said it's all about set up.

As usual on here you can't tow anything without at least a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. The OP and others looking for info would have been better served by focusing on set up and not bashing 1/2 tons again.

How much does my 22 footer weigh? You have no idea. It weighs about 7300 loaded. I've towed an equal weight 26 footer as well, no problems. Again, I would argue that an incompetent driver or setup is the issue here, not an inadequate truck.

I won't make the same (wrong) assumptions you did... I'll let you decide if the driver or the setup was incompetent...

Well you named this don't believe the combined weight rating. But I didn't see any where, where the GCVWR was mentioned. you have a 9000lb tow cap, or is that supposed to be the GCVWR. IF it is, you overloaded your truck BIG with a 7500lb trailer.
So tell us. what is your combined weight rating?

This whole thread is rife with misinformation with the truth of the matter hidden in a few posts of those who get it.
