Link to what?
1-ton pickup hauling 5 cars, or derating the vehicles?
Go to Ford forum and you will see lot of proof that 3/4 tons F250 and 1 ton F350 are identical vehicles with added suspension blocks.
It all boils down to how much registration fee you want to pay.
I don't have much to add, but I've seen this a few times on this forum. This isn;t true.
For the OBS Ford it's true for just the rear axle, it uses the same rear spring pack and Sterling 10.25 axle. However, front axles are VERY different (TTB versus D60).
For Super Duty trucks the 250 and 350 uses different springs, and different front axles (D50 versus D60). The frame is the same, however.
It is true on Ford forum.
I can't vouch for each screw and bolt in each model, but point is that door GVWR are fictional numbers manufactured for legal reasons.
My F350 dualy says 13,500lb. Truck alone is 9500 and I will not hesitate to put 8000lb on the bed, if I can control center of gravity (impossible with TC).
My F450 had door sticker at 15,000lb, while tires totaled at 22,500lb.
I had 20,000lb on it for thousands of miles.
You can believe what you want and when you see 3500 with 5 cars on gooseneck you can claim the cars are filled up with helium, but read what Wikipedia says about Dana 80 differential
The Dana 80 has a GAWR up to 11,000 lbs, however it is common practice among manufacturers to derate Dana 80's. Gross axle weight ratings are lowered by the vehicle manufacturer for safety and tire reasons
