I feel that most of the manufacturers will try and keep the tongue weight on the lower side of the range to accommodate lighter duty trucks. A lot of RVers use their tow vehicle as their daily driver and would prefer a 1/2 ton if possible. By keeping the tongue weight lower, trailers will conform more to the marketing desires. As stated previously, as long as a truck and trailer combination are within specs, heavy tongue weight is not bad.
