Driveway camping at my own house

I'm gearing up for my second night of sleeping in my truck camper in my own driveway. My beloved wife is working on a big presentation for next week and very stressed out. She's a very light sleeper to begin with but the added stress has made her even more prone to waking up at the slightest perturbation. For about the past week my allergies have been acting up and I've been snoring quite a bit more than usual. While I am usually banished to the sofa, this time my snoring is so loud (according to stressed out Mrs.) that I took the next logical step. I actually don't mind at all and it's sort of fun. I'm just hoping that might betrothed doesn't get used to this and decide it's an ideal set up. Then again I've got a fridge and a TV and a bed and I can snore all I want. So that's something to be thankful for on Thursday. Hope you are having a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.

  • If it is allergy related, you might try a good quality air filter if you aren't using one. It stopped my father-in-laws snoring.
  • Having a sleep test in a few days. It's allergy related according to my physician since I'm not overweight and it's only during certain parts of the year. Hopefully an easy fix.
  • Fortunately we live in the sticks so I don't have to worry about sleeping anywhere on my property. Also I'm allowed to come into use the bathroom and other things as long as I'm not snoring while I do it. I might tie some flies out there tonight. Maybe have some beers. Pretty nice mini-vacation I'm having actually.
  • This is bad HOW?????

I have done so a number of times when I needed quiet, when we had guests over, or just because, not only in my driveway but in my daughters and in others driveways.

Funny thing is that I have had people feel sorry that I was sleeping there, then I went back to the TC, got a drink, a snack and enjoyed myself :-)
  • I've had cocktail parties, dinner parties, etc. in my camper in the driveway. I've also slept in it in the driveway more than once for fun. I'm in the mountains though and my camper is 175' up the driveway on the hillside with views of the lake below, so it's really a lot like "real TC camping"! :)

Isn't it great the uses we find for these gems? :)

  • Sounds like fun. We've dropped power a few times and stayed in the TC. We've also used it at the relatives house.

Just be cautious that you are not doing something against the country trailer laws. We have a county NO HOUSE TRAILER residence law here except at a regular trailer park. We spend the nights in our trailer quite a bit here as well... Parking our RV at home is allowed...

Spending the night here is one thing but actually living in the trailer would be a big NO-NO here.

I guess connecting up to permanent sewer would be a give-away.

We are connected to the garage 120VAC 15/20 amp service using the shore power cable and the appropriate RV30a-15A adapter.

We are not hooked up to sewer or water here in the back yard.

Just saying might be something for you to check on...
