Hey Pete, I just traveled from Fl. to the Maritimes(on my way back now). I agree that unless you have a particular interest in the area you should bypass I-95 north of Richmond, it's a little longer but definitely forth it. As far as crossing into Canada, that was an undesirable experience, we crossed at Calais and were surprised when they searched our truck and rv extensively, slide rooms out, open drawers and compartments etc., they even questioned and tested my container of baby aspirin thinking that it was some kind of illegal drug.
The maritimes are expensive and the 15% tax doesn't help. Diesel was about $5 per gal. Had no trouble getting into CGs in May/June, however it will be considerably busier now that school is out.
