I had to drive across my very wet yard to park my TC in the covered shed one time. I made a tremendous amounts of ruts when the truck started sliding down the small slope. I locked it 4x4 and parked it. When my wife came home and saw the ruts, she thought my good friend had made them with his 2WD dually. For a short period of time, I was home free until I felt the need to confess.
Around here, the soil will eventually smooth back out (I also use a tractor and a blade). Each Spring a new crop of rocks make their way to the surface.
A couple years ago, I just added a bunch of creek gravel to the highly traveled area. The grass eventually grows between the rocks as they sink into the soil during rain and freeze/thaw days.
I would think being in Alaska, you would have significant soil changes due to freezes and thaws along with some heaves.
It does help to have a 4x4 where I live - even for wet grass.
