Here's my experience for supporting the Arctic Fox 990 I own. After seeing posts about the plywood X idea, I made some out of 3/4 inch pressure treated plywood. They were 4 ft long pieces that did not go from side to side of the camper but were about 6 inches short of each side. I also placed 4 strips of 1/2 inch plywood 8ft long and 1ft wide on top of the X's. I thought that would carry the load. After lowering it on the supports I realized it was not adequate due to the support of the plywood was not to the extreme edges of the camper bottom. I heard some nasty crunching when lowering on the platform. I also experienced the camper moving around on the truck when I stored all this on the bed of the truck even considering I had a 1/2 inch rubber mat on the bed.
If you make an X type of support, I strongly suggest you spring for the 10ft sheet of plywood so it will go all the way to the outside of the camper floor. It's very difficult to get this system to work on anything but perfectly level solid ground. I basically don't like this method and would not recommend it.
I gave up this idea and went to Walmart and bought 8 aluminum screw jacks (pictured in a post above) that are rated at 6000 lbs each. Then I purchased four cedar 4X4's 50 inches long. The Jacks support the 4x4's and are adjustable to perfectly level the camper floor. You simply set the camper jacks at the level you want then place the 4x4's and aluminum jacks under the floor and screw the jacks up to carry the weight. I place 10 inch square 3/4 inch plywood pads under the jacks. This way the camper is perfectly level on any ground. The jacks stack together and take up very little room and are very light. I have not perfected where to carry the 4x4's yet but have an idea that on the roof rack or under the camper bumper on a custom rack will work well.
