Dry bath v/s wet bath

I am shopping around for newer camper as my 2002 Fletwood shows the age due to not treated in the past damage.
See some nice campers from 2005-2008 era, what I understand will have aluminium frame (that's the only thing that keeps my old camper together, so I definitely don't want to go back to wood only) but even 2-slide Lance has wet bath :S
I really enjoyed dry and good sized bath in Fletwood, so am not sure how me and DW will dislike wet bath.
I think it doesn't matter in hot weather, where water from wet floor evaporates faster than I can get a rag to wipe it, but I expect it to be annoying in cold season camping.
How do you guys live with wet bath?

  • Had both..

Read once by a wise man (somewhere on this site).. the difference between a wet and dry is where one stores stuff. One doesn't offer more room over another, just a personal choice about where it's all stored.

I like wet baths; usually a bit roomier to shower. Wife prefers dry bathroom as towels and things are in the bathroom. And that part I get and appreciate.
  • Unlike Travelnutz I have never had a water issue in my dry bath. I have the vent open and fan on in the bathroom while showering. I also take a "Navy Shower" wet up, turn off the shower head, soap up, turn the head back on and rinse off. I use maybe a gallon of water. I also have a carpet bath mat to step onto but usually I have dried my feet with the towel first. In 8 years I have never wiped the shower stall and curtain dry after use. The walls and floor outside of the shower stall stay dry. Shower stall gets wet rain jackets hung on the extra curtain rod that spans the shower, Waders get hung there and wet boots also get placed there. Having a dry bath lets me do that and still use the sink and toilet.

  • We have had a few of each, wet bath TC's and dry bath TC's. Our present over 11' long floor Lance TC has a dry bath. Both do the job equally as well and my wife actually prefers the wet bath and wants it for our next TC as the toilet seat becomes a very nice shower seat but there's not any in a dry bath and not room for one either. Should we change TC again, she said she definitely want's a wet bath again. Why, comfort and no matter what some say, the honest truth is that you have to wipe down a dry bath shower just like you do a wet bath and both have a shower curtain so what difference does it really make? I'm open to either as it doesn't make a bit of difference to me as I'm in there to do a task, not using it as a lounge.

A wet bath has a floor drain so any water goes down and out leaving the floor dryer than your feet are just like in the dry bath shower floor too and then you step out of the shower with your wet feet anyway and there's no floor drain in front of the toilet. A dry bathroom sizes is larger and with hot shower water inside the bathroom especially when it's humid outside or cold exterior walls in the bathroom, they sweat like mad and the sweat runs down the walls. The entire dry bath/floor gets wet and guess who will be wiping it down anyway? 6 of one, half a dozen of the other!

Our wet bath has hangers on the inside of the door for clothes and dry towel, they are covered by the shower curtain, DW uses the shower, i will not, small room makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Our wet bath is kind of a dry one...we've never used the shower. So I guess it works great. Camping for us means showers are optional or a swim. I do use the outside shower to wash my hair when it gets slimey.
  • We have a NL with a tub in a dry bath. I shower and my wife likes the tub. The shower curtain hangs inside the tub.
  • While I've never owned a wet bath I constantly wonder how I would deal with one. It's not unusual at all in our family to have someone go straight in to use the toilet right after someone finishes a shower. Having your clothes on the ground while using the toilet immediately after a shower in a wet bath would not be good.
Also, it's quite common for us to take clean clothes into the shower to dress when finished. I don't know where I would put them (nor my dry towel) while using the wet bath shower.
  • I've had both...but the wet bath long ago. Go dry bath. Wipe down the entire wet area every time someone takes a shower? Not me.
