Not sure on the older unit, but on my 2004 Lance 815, after a night of boondocking at 30* outside while maintaining 65 inside, a couple of lights for a couple of hours, and recharging a laptop while using via a 300 watt inverter, my entire night was only about 20 A/hrs. This means I could probably just squeeze two nights with a single group 29 battery.
If adding batteries for winter camping, you want them in an insulated compartment to keep them warm. When they get cold, they loose a lot of their capacity.
One option I've looked at is going AGM and making a box for them in the hall way under the counter overhang where they would be out of the way.
