Did you make your own tiedowns with the springs? I agree with your theory that springs would allow some movement without damaging the camper. The happijac tiedowns only have a small rubber bit of give. I would think you'd need the correct spring based on camper weight. Too much or too little would create it's own problem?? A coil over shock would be the perfect combination!
