Dump Station Etiquette???

36guy, that is a good point about the soles of the shoes! I guess I will have to slather hand sanitizer on them when we are done dumping?? Or wear plastic booties like they do in an operating room?? ;)

We have friends (who live in a big city) who insist politely that everyone must take off their shoes before coming into the house, because the streets are so unsanitary.

So, seriously, I wonder if it makes sense to quickly spray the soles with Lysol after dumping -- kind of a hassle, but not totally irrational. :E

When we used to local camp I get tired of dealing with the lines so I poured a 14' x 30' pad with 50A, Water and Sewer.

I gotta say, if some pig has left a mess at the dump station, I won't dump there, walking around messes left by previous dumpers is not good. By the way boys, do you bag up your shoes after dumping? Or toss them? You've walked around the area......

I have the same attitude. Except, I keep the plastic gloves in the side compartment of the TT. It is easy to acces when I am dumping and I have lots of those gloves around because they stick them in boxes of the chemicals we use on the farm.

Good question? If they are already full of diesel fuel, he may have a sealing bag or tote to keep them in. I am hoping that anyone behind him, at the diesel pump, has some disposable gloves to wear.

If you need to wear gloves for these dirty jobs, then IMO, you need to toss them after use.

Myself, at the dump station, I seldom use any gloves, but I have a ready container of sanitizing towels, that I use after handling sewer equipment. I still wash good with soap & water, before eating my sandwich!!

I bought a dispenser that holds a box of disposable gloves and I fastened to one of the inside of one of pass thru doors. Toss 'em when you're done!

If there is a line, I just pay $3 and dump at Flying J when I get home home. Since I paid there, I take my time and use the tank rinse and flush several times.

No line, I will dump at the campground and rinse.

i dump the tanks, pull ahead so the next guy can get in. i then dump 5 gallons into the black with a cupful+ of laundry detergent. then empty that and backflush at home a few times.

sammich in one hand, diesel nozzle in the other. Everything is just fine until one has to switch hands! :D
