DURAMAX GLOW PLUG

Why on earth did anyone hijack a perfectly reasonable thread about a Duramax glow plug with debates about Cummins engines? Get a life.
OP, if you never need to start the truck in cold weather it won't matter if you fix it or not. Otherwise, I'd fix it but the truck will likely start just fine in cold weather with only 7 glow plugs working.

Friend has a 500 HP cummins and he had glo plugs relaced once. It is an 04 Monaco.

Sorry Larry but no, it didn't have glow plugs. Your buddy either misunderstood or he got ripped off!
Time to tease him ;)

The only Cummins engine putting out 500 hp in that application would be the 15L ISX which does not have glow plugs.

Changed put my number 4 glow plug in 15 minutes. As Lazydays said it takes longer to remove and replace the wheel liner.

True. The only other "Cummins" to use a glow plug is some older Onan gen sets and even in that case, it's more of an intake heater.
No big OTR engine'd truck uses glow plugs. Grid heaters are far more simple and reliable.

The only current Cummins automotive diesel engine that I know have glow plugs is the ISV5.0 V8 found in the Nissan and other light-medium duty trucks. All of the inline six engines, large or small, us fuel and/or grid heaters. It is easier and more cost effective(for the manufacturer) to put glow plugs on V configured engines while it is very easy to put a grid heater on the intake manifold on an inline six engine.

Probably will not hurt but you will not know if you get a different mil unless you are reading codes periodically.
