- 1jeepExplorer III agree, I never found my 2011 6.7 to be underpowered and now the 2016 has even more, but also what it does have is worse fuel mileage.

Well we are talking about GM......so I say it's a number "2"! :B - 1jeepExplorer IIrecently having had purchased mine I can tell you they are all good, just some people feel that their brand is better.
- OrcadrvrExplorerI would love to own any of the Big 3 diesels.
When I get ready to buy, it will be primarily based on price, as I don't see any meaningful statistical difference between any of them.
They are all great trucks. - 1jeepExplorer IIYour point is?
I had a cummins, great engine, it was a 12 valve and ran great, sold it because everything around it was falling apart as can happen with any brand after many miles.
BTW... I never said anything about rust, but it appears you just did, is there a reason to be defensive about such a thing? - transamz9Explorer

Maybe the cummins will but what its wrapped in might not.
This comment blows me away. I have all of the big three in my fleet and they are driven the same roads and conditions and there is only one brand that that actually has rust on the sheet medal and it's not the GM's and Rams. We actually just had one of our 06 Rams painted because it's still such a good and reliable truck but the body and paint was beat up pretty good. I asked the guy if there was any rust problems and he said not one bit. Truck has over 300,000 miles on it. - 1jeepExplorer II

The horsepower/torque race is becoming insane. I'm leaning toward a Ram 2500/3500 for my next truck, and the "base" Cummins engine with a measly 370hp/800 torque is way more than my needs will require. Heck, my dad's old 7.3 Powerstroke with just 255/525 does a decent job of pulling 12K, that's really all I need.
I towed with a measly 350/800 with a 11 HO Dually. Combined weight 29K with 68RFE AND 3.42's. Truck performed very well. ONLY issue was getting the load rolling on a grade. The Aisin with the same combo would have been flawless. - BedlamModeratorSome of the guys that own inline sixes feel they have to justify their choice. I never have (whether owning a Perkins, TDI, PSD or CTD) and welcome the improved products that come from competing brands. You have to take these engines outputs with a grain of salt in the pickup line - They may put out these peaks, but torque management and drivablility software limit how often and long that occurs.
It would nice to see a FE (Fuel Efficient) variant of these diesels come out on the market, but right now you only have a choice of something around three liters then and then nothing until you are at twice the displacement. I haven't heard about good mileage figures from the Cummins 5 liter, so there is room for improvement and new products.
