- larry_barnhartExplorerbecause I say nothing is perfect I have a neighbor with an older dodge dually that has has money spent on the engine twice that cost more than the truck was worth at that time but he drove past our house yesterday. It is his backup. PS he likes his Ram 5500 as it is more truck of course to pull his tractor.
Both has programmers to get the power he needs. Money will keep any vehicle running.

Not limited to Diesels. Ford 300 I-6, Chrysler 225 I-6, Jeep 4.0 I-6, GM 250 I-6 to name a few!
I like to keep it straight, the other two swing both ways ! - tinner12002Explorer

Yeah,I suspect they will be too FishOnOne,But it should be shown as a boat anchor at the trout fishing pond.
Sorry,couldn't help myself.
As Grandpa told me many years ago (and I'm in my 60's) there is no such thing as a good V-8 diesel and after all these years and the several million miles I have run,and having owned a few v-8 diesels,I admit,Grandpa was right.
Look at any GOOD diesel that has lasted many, many miles and you'll find is was an inline 6.
I like spending what little money I have on something other than a new 80K plus truck every few years.
Course Grandpa also taught me to take care of what I have.
Do you have deletes done on your truck? - alaska315Explorer(I suspect GM will be showing this engine during the Texas state fair.)

My favorite part about the redesigned Duramax (besides the insane power jump) is the Denso HPFP as opposed to the Bosch. GM has had plenty of experience with the Bosch and is giving the Denso a try. Seeing as to how GM actually provides a warranty for their HPFP, they must have more faith in the Denso over the Bosch. I am quite curious to see how the Denso works out.
I'll be honest, the Bosch fuel pump is one of the big reasons I did not consider a Ford diesel. While I am sure that failures are rare, they still happen and happen with zero fault of the owner and without any forewarning. Cummins uses an older HPFP with lower pressure ratings and significantly lower risk of failure.
If Denso can make a fuel pump that can survive the conditions that caused the Bosch to fail, that would be an incredible improvement in diesel technology.
I'm also curious to see what transmission improvements are done to the Allison. Speculation has always been that the Allison trans was the limiting factor in power production for GM.
Anywho, great step (maybe LEAP) forward by GM.
Can you provide a link to back up that the 6.6 Duramax will have an all new HPFP? Until then I'll just consider your post another trolling post with always throwing something under the bus.
Troy, don't be mad that the Bow Tie will be the first at the top of the hill again! ;) Or be mad that the Bow Tie will not need 15K worth of repair work done when that CP 4.2 pump takes a dump. :B
Oh, here's your link. :)
Here's another. (Steel pistons; WOW!)
Thanks for the links but not sure I read anything definitive (aluminum block, compound turbos, steel pistons) but is sure better than spreading hearsay.
That Denso pump looks almost like a CP4...
BTW... I though we established the first up the hill is no longer important around here! :B- Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer

Absolutely love my 2016 but that is a giant jump in power and torque- I may not be able to wait that long. :)
